Broadway Bound Summer Intensive: Broadway Dance and Musical Theater
July 9-20, 2012
Located in the spacious facilities of the Reston Community Players Rehearsal Hall, LMproject's Summer Intensive is designed for young performers who are interested in learning the styles of dance that make up Broadway. Our summer intensive offers a wide variety of educational and training opportunities for students 10-14+ yrs old. We will also being offering apprenticeships for our older dancers (15-18), who will learn directly from the instructors by being part of the teaching and creative process. Dancers will be divided into classes by level of training (Beginner/Intermediate & Intermediate/Advanced). This intensive also features activities that are designed by our experienced and enthusiastic staff specifically to create well rounded young performing artists. We offer Jazz, Stretch Technique, Musical Theater, Stage Combat, Basic Movement for Beginners, Acting & Improv, and more!
Registration for the LMproject Summer Dance Intensive is NOW OPEN. Please note that registration is limited due to rehearsal and performance space. Early registration is recommended.
To Join Us this Summer, you can register 3 different ways.
- 1) You can complete our online form and payment processor to claim your spot.
- 2) If you are interested in the apprenticeship program, you can contact us here with a request to be considered for the apprenticeship program.
- 3) If you would like to hold a spot in the workshop, but are unable to pay the full amount now, you can register with a $200 non-refundable deposit to secure your spot. A follow up email will then inform you how to pay the remainder. All campers must be fully paid up by July 1st, 2012 in order to not lose their deposit, and to participate in the workshop. To use this option, choose the "Student DEPOSIT" option in the "Student Type" selection when you complete our online form and payment processor.

BEFORE AND AFTER CARE
Our daily program will run from 9:00am - 5:00pm. There will be additional programming offered from 8:00am-9:00am and 5:00pm - 6:30pm. Programming will consist of dance and drama games, technical theatre opportunities, movies, and snack (for the afternoon session only).
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING
Every day after lunch we will have a 45 minute educational workshop. We will focus on basic theater knowledge, and performance skills. We will also be holding a workshop on auditioning with Brian Collier, Dance Supervisor for Mary Poppins Broadway Show and National Tour.
TECHNIQUE CLASSES
Throughout the week, students will participate in basic movement, theater jazz, stretching, hip hop, stage combat, acting and improvisation, and musical theater technique classes. These technique classes provide the dancers a stronger base for continued growth and artistic development.
WORKSHOP & PERFORMANCE
Dancers will spend two periods each day in workshop classes. These workshop classes will draw from what they are learning and reviewing in their technique classes. The two workshop performance pieces will allow them to rehearse a two dance numbers and any other numbers being performed on Friday afternoon for family and friends. There will be a DVD recording of this performance mailed home after camp is over as our gift to you.
